Backing Up Wordpress

Backing up Wordpress is essential before performing any upgrade, and good practise to perform regularly. The following extension is recommended:
BackWPup does the following:
  • Database Backup
  • WordPress XML Export
  • Optimize Database
  • Check\Repair Database
  • File Backup
  • Backups in zip, tar, tar.gz, tar.bz2 format
  • Store backup to Folder
  • Store backup to FTP Server
  • Store backup to Amazon S3
  • Store backup to Google Storage
  • Store backup to Microsoft Azure (Blob)
  • Store backup to RackSpaceCloud
  • Store backup to Dropbox
  • Store backup to SugarSync
  • Send Log/Backup by Email
  • Multisite Support only as Network Admin
We do not recommend storing backups to any external cloud based backup. It is extremely slow and the security of your data is put at risk. Backup to the server instead. If you are a Create Hosting customer, in most cases there is no need to automate backups as we keep a full daily backup of your files and database, as well as weekly snapshots. However, it is still your responsibility to keep backup copies of all files you publish to our servers, and also recommended to backup before making any major changes.
